Eiropas Komisija 5. maijā, 2010 atvērs ceturto Life+ Programmas uzsaukumu, ar kopējo finansējumu līdz 240 miljoniem eiro, kas tiek paredzēti projektu līdzfinansēšanai zem trīs programmas prioritātēm: daba un tās daudzveidība, vides politika un vadība, kā arī informācija un komunikācija. Finansējuma saņemšanai no Life+ programmas var pieteikties valsts un pašvaldību iestādes, komersanti un nevalstiskās organizācijas.

Vides attīstības pārstāvji Dita Auziņa un Mārcis Gedrovičs piedalījās šajā pasākumā ar mērķi uzzināt par jaunākajām tendencēm un idejām Eko-Inovāciju nozarē un iespējām piesaistīt ārējo finansējumu inovatīvu ekoprojektu izstrādei. Informācijas dienas ietvaros notika Eko-Inovāciju projekta pieteikumu uzsaukuma atvēršana, kas deva Vides attīstības biedrības pārstāvjiem lielisku iespēju apvienot lietderīgo ar patīkamo.

Members of Environmental Development Association visit Ghana (Africa)

Members of Environment Development Association Karlis Maulics and Gegams Hanamirjans visited Ghana on the Easter week (from 04.04.2010 to 09.04.2010). The aim of the visit was to evaluate cooperation opportunities between Latvia and Ghana, and to evaluate environment issues in Ghana.

EnSaCo Oil Spill project seminar in Helsinki, 12th of April

On 12th of April Environmental Development Association memebers Karlis Maulics and Elina Berzina participated in project seminar EnSaCo Oil Spill “Challenges of cross-border shoreline oil spill response in the Central Baltic Sea” organized by Haaga- Helia Univeristy in Helsinki. The main aim of the project is to raise and develop the level of expertise and to intensify cross-border shoreline response.

Environment Development Agency is a part of work group of Ministry of Economics of Latvia that is developing a draft law

The country of Latvia has a developed legislation base, which has successfully served as a basis for use of renewable energy resources, production of electricity and heating in Latvia. Since Latvia is a member state of EU it is required to regularly evaluate and develop national renewable energy policy by including the efficiency of the support mechanisms. The necessity for Latvia to become freer of the dependency on the primary imported energy resources, such as gas, signifies the importance of renewable energy resources for Latvia. The Government of Latvia ordered the Ministry of Economics of Latvia to develop a law on renewable energy resources.

27.01.2010 The EDA representative Karlis Maulics participated in EU Baltic Sea Region Strategy Meeting

On the 27th of January the Baltic Sea Region Strategy Meeting took place. A member of Environmental Development Association Karlis Maulics attended this meeting. The main addressed issue was how to make the Baltic Sea region a model region for clean shipping. The meeting, held in Copenhagen, was organized by Danish Sea Administration. The participants were informed about project applications, priority region development and other related issues.
